Position:     Accounts Payable / Business Generalist

Date Position Available:     Immediate Opening

Description:     MSAD 11 is seeking a detail-oriented proactive individual to join our finance team as the Accounts Payable / Business Generalist. As the Accounts Payable / Business Generalist, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable functions while assisting with various HR tasks, including Workers Compensation and OSHA compliance. Attention to detail, problem solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are crucial for success in this role. While basic accounting principles and practices are desired, we welcome candidates with a willingness to learn and grow. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in both finance and human resources.

Qualifications:    

  • Fingerprinting and background check (CHRC authorization) through the State of Maine Department of Education is a state requirement.
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred (or related work experience)
  • Proven experience in accounts payable or related financial roles preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively
  • Familiarity with school accounting software (e.g., Profund) is a plus.

 Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to address inquiries and resolve payment issues
  • Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation for audit purposes
  • Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Assist with HR tasks including Workers Compensation and OSHA Compliance
  • Support HR team with employee onboarding, documentation, and file maintenance as needed
  • Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Business Manager
