Health Aide (Grades K-5)

POSITION:               Health Aide (Grades K-5) 

LOCATIONS:           Williams-Cone School

HOURS/STATUS:    20 hours per week

CLOSING DATE:    Open Until Filled 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To provide school health services according to School Board polices and under the direction of the School Principal and School Nurse. 

1. Assist in student Health Care activities.
2. Provide first aid for students.
3. Assist with the maintenance of health and/or first aid records.
4. Assist with School Health Screenings.
5. Assist with the inventory and ordering of school health supplies.
6. Perform specific health care procedures with training.
7. Reports problems of an immediate or emergency nature. (In the absence of the School Nurse, report will be issued to the building Administrator).
8. Dispense medications according to annual training provided by the District and in accordance with the Department of Education laws and School Board policy.
9. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Summary of education, certification, skills and abilities required for the position:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certification strongly preferred. 
• Demonstrates sound judgment and effective communication skills.
• Respect and protect the confidentiality of students, staff and families.
• Maintain necessary certifications for CPR and First Aid.
• Demonstrate basic organizational, computer and clerical proficiency.
• Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) or ability to attain.
