Description

The Ellsworth School Department is accepting applications for an anticipated  licensed clinician (LCSW/LCPC) position for the district to support students with special needs starting fall 2024.  The successful candidate will provide proof of a current clinical license in Maine and preferably have prior group and individual clinical experience, especially in day treatment.   This individual will be responsible for identifying needs that interfere with learning for students with Individual Education Program (IEPs). The individual will also demonstrate knowledge of mental health and education systems. The role requires working with staff, classroom programs, and with students and families to resolve social, emotional, and behavioral problems.   

Additional duties will include:

  • Completing Biopsychosocial assessments, Safety evaluations, Diagnostic Impressions, Emergency Crisis assessments for students with special needs 
  • Providing individual and group treatment (social skills, support, topic specific) 
  • Providing input to a various team meetings on behavioral, academic, and classroom support plans
  • Providing clinical consultation for teachers, parents, and administrators as appropriate
  • Serve as a liaison with community resources and provide support to special needs students at risk of dropping out, who have been hospitalized, who are truant, and who are homeless
  • Provide proof of maintaining appropriate documentation per (Individuals with Disabilities Act) IDEA
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and interdisciplinary team (OT, PT, Speech, Psychologist, BCBA)
