Join the dynamic leadership team at the Westbrook (ME) School Department as our new Curriculum Coordinator! This is a new position, beginning July 2024.

About the Position

The Curriculum Coordinator will have an essential role in leading teaching and learning throughout our PK-12 school department. Working alongside teachers, instructional coaches and strategists, principals and directors, and district leaders, the Curriculum Coordinator will focus on improving academic achievement as well as social and emotional wellness among all learners.  Major responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee and continuously review the district’s K-12 Curriculum, Learning Continuum, and course blueprints in all content areas;
  • Facilitate the district’s instructional frameworks that adhere to an evolving workshop model and apply required programs that support foundational skills and strategies, conceptual and content knowledge, and dispositions, behaviors, and routines of learning; 
  • Collaborate with Instructional Coaches, Instructional Strategists, teacher leaders, and principals in leading teaching and learning in supporting all PK-12 learners 
  • Collaborate with Directors of Special Education, Multilingual Programs, Adult Education, and Westbrook Regional Vocational Center to support multiple pathways and customized supports for all learners; 
  • Coordinate district and state assessment framework; 
  • Coordinate Social and Emotional Learning initiatives including K-12 BARR; 
  • Collaborate with principals, directors of Special Education and Multilingual programs, directors of art and music, and district leaders as a member of the Leadership Team to advance learning and achievement goals
  • Coordinate and lead professional development
  • Participate in district Committees including Ed Programs Committee, Equity Leadership Group, PBIS Steering Committee, and BARR Implementation Team

Qualifications include:

  • Masters’ Degree in Teaching and Learning, Curriculum Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field in education;
  • Certification as a Curriculum Coordinator;
  • 5 or more years of successful teaching experience and evidence of teacher leadership;
  • Experience working in a diverse community including multilingual students and families;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse groups of faculty and other stakeholders orally, in writing, and with visual media;
  • Ability to work independently while following a common mission and vision
