Description

POSITION:                           Groundskeeper                        

LOCATION:                         Buildings and Grounds 

HOURS/STATUS:                40 hours per week (Full-time/Year-Round); 6:30am - 3:00pm

CLOSING DATE:                Open Until Filled                                                                                                         

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain athletic fields and adjoining grounds and facilities. 
  • Maintain athletic field lines for appropriate sports. Placing goals, nets, bleachers and associated equipment and materials.
  • Maintain and repair lawns, including, but not limited to, lawn mowing, raking, seeding, grading, fertilizing, tree and bush trimming and watering.
  • Complete work orders as assigned, in a timely manner.
  • Conduct building maintenance District-Wide, as needed. 
  • During snow events: plowing, clear foot paths by shoveling and snow blowing. Ensure proper treatment of walkways to prevent slips, trips and falls.
  • Perform facilities maintenance and assist with other Buildings and Grounds functions as assigned.
  • Perform various duties to include (not limited to): inventory, recycling, equipment moving and/or storage, universal waste, painting, off hours alarm response and minor repairs involving hand and power tools.
  • Substitute as a Transportation Specialist (Bus Driver) and Custodian when needed.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, such as (not limited to): tractor, ride-on mowers, snow plow, snow blower, sander, chainsaw, manlift, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • State of Maine driver’s license and driving record in good standing.
  • Must demonstrate good mechanical aptitude and have physical ability to meet the essential performance responsibilities and physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Maine school bus driver’s license within the first 90 days of employment. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with all District Employees, contractors and members of the public in a professional, polite and courteous manner.
  • Must work overtime hours as the schedule and/or conditions require.
  • Daily operation of mechanical equipment (tractors, mowers, etc.)
  • Must be motivated and self-directed; strong ability to work independently and goal oriented.
  • Dependability is a must.
  • Must be a team player and work cooperatively with members of the department and throughout the District.   
  • Post-employment offer pre-employment physical required.
  • Adhere to all District policies, procedure and guidelines with a commitment to working safely. 
  • Department of Education Criminal History Record Check required, or ability to attain.
