The Ellsworth School Department is seeking a collaborative, knowledgeable candidate who is a self-starter and looking to become part of a team working to meet the individual needs of students.  Knowledge of child development, the impact of disabilities socially and emotionally as well as academically are critical skills for this position.  The ability to partner with general education teachers to support student success in the least restrictive educational environment and to proactively plan for meeting the needs of the whole child as a member of grade level and IEP teams are critical components for success in this position.  Strong leadership skills, organizational skills, collaboration skills and the ability to be flexible, to multitask, to case manage students and to think quickly are required to carry out the duties of this job. Responsibilities include providing specially designed instruction and accommodations, leading IEP meetings, managing and implementing IEPs, measuring and reporting on academic and functional progress, consulting with contracted providers, and reporting to parents.  Experience with behavior  plans, specialized instruction in reading, written language, and math for students in grades 5-8  is preferred.  A positive outlook and the desire to work collaboratively and flexibly contribute to successful programming.  The ideal candidate is caring, compassionate, dedicated to the students’ success and is an effective student advocate, communicator, collaborator and a flexible multi-tasker. The candidate needs a versatile skill set and a willingness to proactively look for ways to support the student.
