The Skills Lab paraprofessional serves a unique role at Mt. Ararat High School, supervising and organizing the Skills Lab as a space and program to support students with unique needs. This regular education paraprofessional provides support to students struggling with motivation, confidence, independence, consistent attendance, executive skills, and social-emotional readiness for success in a high school environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide direct academic, organizational, and relational support to identified students, as scheduled in the Skills Lab.
• Review and reinforce learning objectives previously introduced by classroom teachers and other members of a student’s team.
• Develop working relationships with students to support their positive connection to the school environment and to build skills, confidence and raise student aspirations.
• Collaborate closely with members of the school counseling and social work team to provide continuity of social-emotional support to identified students.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to engage students as learners, including communication and collaboration with teachers across the school.
• Participate in Student Assistance Team meetings and support problem solving to support students with unique needs.
• Complete general supervisory and other duties associated, as assigned by school administrators. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Three years of post-secondary education or combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study.
• Department of Education Educational Technician Authorization (or able to obtain)
• Demonstrated record keeping skills.
• Proven ability to function as a team member.
• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50+ lbs.
