POSITION: Educational Technician II - Supporting students K-5 in a Day Treatment Classroom

LOCATION: Massabesic School of Extended Support (East Building) 

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

1. High school diploma.

2. Ability to perform work requested.

3. Prior experience preferred.

4. Maintains or is eligible for State of Maine Educational Technician II Certificate.

WORK YEAR:

School year per Educational Technician Bargaining Agreement.

JOB GOALS:

To facilitate the educational process for students by supporting and enhancing the educational services offered by the teaching staff and to reinforce student academic skills in all educational settings assigned. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ability to read, reason, and understand policies and procedures and related information and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

2. Physical ability to perform all necessary upper and lower body movement.

3. Ability to do reaching, lifting, basic math, writing, eye-hand coordination, sitting and stooping.

1. Observes, consults with, and assists individual classroom teachers in their instructional and classroom performance.

2. Work with students as assigned by the teacher individually or in groups doing activities prescribed by the teacher.

3. Supplements and reinforces material taught in the classroom, instructs designated students for the purpose of enhancing academic capabilities.

4. Perform such clerical duties as assigned to allow the teacher more time to teach, consult, etc.

5. Assists students to develop study and organization skills,

6. Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children,

7. Helps the teacher to work more effectively with students,

8. Assists the teacher in testing or screening procedures.

9. Supervise students in transit as assigned.

10. Perform such related duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time.

11. Is familiar with and follows all school district approved policies and procedures.

12. To complete any and all assigned tasks appropriate to certification requested by supervising teacher or building administrator.
