Description
  • Perform various custodial duties such as cleaning, scrubbing, waxing, moving furniture and other similar duties to maintain assigned areas in a clean and habitable condition following established practices and procedures.
  • Work from written or verbal orders and instructions, pre-established work patterns and assignments.  Use vacuum cleaners, electric buffers, floor scrubber, mops, buckets and other similar items.
  • Cleaning duties consist of, but are not limited to washing sinks, bowls, interior windows, pictures, glass doors, partitions, vacuum and clean rugs, mop, sweep, scrub, dust desks, tables, chairs, furnishings, fixtures, doors, trim and other related items.  Empty refuse containers, pick up and remove debris and trash, place in designated area or receptacle.  Clean and sanitize lavatories, toilets, restrooms, basins, and similar items; replenish and replace tissues, towels, soap and other items.
  • Shovel or clear away snow from steps and access routes, building entrances and building walkways.  Police designated outside area, pick up and dispose of trash, debris, leaves and similar items, place in trash receptacle.  
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 60 pounds and move furniture, equipment, and items such as desks, file cabinets and similar items using hand truck, dolly, etc., within assigned areas as directed.  May occasionally be required to lift over 75 pounds with assistance.  Report items such as smoke detectors, door closers, flushometers, etc. in need of repair.  Change light bulbs that can be changed with a 6’ foot ladder.
  • Use master keys to lock and unlock doors to classrooms, offices, and other areas following preset scheduleor as required. 
  • Pick up and return key sets following established practices.  Report lost or missing keys to director immediately.
  • Occasional overtime will be required for emergencies, special events and/or to complete necessary work. 
  • Adjust work schedule to include coming in at some time during all holidays and weekends.
  • Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials as well as unusual situations to supervisor. 
  • Observe and obey all safety rules, practices and procedures.  Post signs in work areas as required.  Maintain
    work and supply area in a neat and orderly manner.  
  • Requisition needed supplies following established procedures.
  • Requires periodic kneeling and crouching; occasional bending and twisting; and the ability to climb 6’ foot
    ladder.  Set-up for special events as requested by director.  Perform minor repairs to building equipment as
    needed.  
  • Perform similar and related duties as requested and required.
Salary19.25 - 21.00 Hour
