Good Will Hinckley and the Glenn Stratton Learning Center is looking for a dedicated, dynamic, detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Special Education Teacher for our K-12-day treatment program for the 2024/2025 School year. Working 185 Academic days.

For over 130 years, the Good Will Idea to provide a home and helping hand to boys and girls in need has stood tall and proud on the beautiful sprawling campus of Good Will-Hinckley in Fairfield, Maine. As a young boy, George Walter Hinckley offered his food and bed to an orphan seeking refuge in his home. From that one act of kindness sprang his enduring gift to the world: The Good-Will Idea.

In 1889, the Good Will-Hinckley Homes for Boys and Girls was born. GWH has uplifted thousands of Maine children and young adults by providing resources and a family for life. Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher in the Glen Stratton Learning Center Program provides direct academic and behavioral instruction to students as part of a team-based approach to educational programming.  These students have significant social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

 

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Maine Department of Education Special Education Certification appropriate to teaching position.
  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Professional or willing to obtain BHP Certification.
  • Experience working with students who demonstrate significant behavioral, social, and emotional difficulties, preferred.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
  • Satisfactory references and background checks.
  • Valid Driver’s License
