Educational Technician III - Summer Boost
(Hourly Rate Based on Step on Scale)
As an Educational Technician III, you will deliver measurable results in enhancing the learning environment for students by supporting classroom teachers in achieving the goals and objectives of the Summer Boost program. The goal of Summer Boost 2025 is to stem student learning loss brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and optimize academic achievement across K-12 mathematics and literacy along with social emotional learning.
Qualifications: Love what you do, working in an environment supporting teachers who are supporting students to achieve their learning goals. Must meet Maine Educational Technician III requirements and the course work in education or a related field. Successful candidate is a team player and creative problem solver with demonstrated communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, such as calmness, kindness, and a warm, sincere demeanor.
Reports to: Summer Site Coordinator
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Assist in the preparation of and implementation of school wide activities
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information
- Participate in in-service training provided through the district to improve knowledge and skills needed to perform job responsibilities
- Participate in staff meetings as needed
Team Member
- Assist with building duties and routine tasks as assigned by the Summer Site Coordinator (i.e. bus duty, etc.)
- Prepare and organize materials for instruction in collaboration with teachers and supervisors
- Assist teachers in ensuring that students’ personal safety and well being needs are met
- Serve as the chief source of information and support to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher
- Carry out behavioral programs and expectations for students in the absence of the teacher (recess, lunch, small group work, etc.)
- Assist Summer Site Coordinator and office staff with clerical tasks
Student Centered
- Performs all duties with an understanding and/or willingness to learn about students with special needs, as well as sensitivity to students, parents, team, and building needs
- Work one-on-one and with small groups of students to implement curriculum, instruction and assessments
- Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, etc.
- Assist students with snacks and clean up routines
- Alert teachers to any problems or special information about an individual student
- All other duties as assigned

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated at the end of the summer session in accordance with this document by the Summer Site Coordinator.
Summer Boost 2025 Schedule:
- Pre-Summer Boost - scheduled planning meetings, training and professional development, and separate on-site planning (to be scheduled by site management team)
- Summer Boost - June 26 - August 1 (Mondays - Thursdays; 7:45AM to 12:15PM)
- Post-Summer Boost - miscellaneous “wrap-up” duties such as e.g., submission of end-of-session performance task rubric, curriculum inventory, etc.) which must occur immediately following the conclusion of Summer Boost program
