Special Education Team Leader/Academic Evaluator

A rare opportunity to be a leader in RSU 16, alongside a dedicated administrative team, in supporting the middle and high school special education team. This non-teaching team leader position provides opportunities for professional growth and development as you help develop programming, placements, student evaluations, paperwork support and guidance through collaborative relationships with students, staff and parents.

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA (Master’s degree preferred)
  • At least three years’ experience in special education or equivalent
  • 035 or 282 or 030 Maine Certification

 Reports to:

  • Administrators 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review WN and IEPs for Middle School and High School Case Managers
  • Assign Case Managers
  • Review Transfer Files
  • Attend Team Leader Meetings
  • Support and consult with teachers regarding program development
  • Support teams for transition of 6th to 7th grade and 8th to 9th grade
  • Assist in professional development for teachers and Ed Tech’s
  • Support case managers for transition plans
  • Complete academic achievement testing and observations for students grade 7-12
  • Other duties as assigned by Principal or Special Education Director

  • Salary, length of year and benefits per Teacher’s contract
