1. Safe operation, maintenance, and routing of the assigned school bus on a day-to-day basis

Operate school bus safely on a daily basis

Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects and report any defects utilizing daily inspection form

Clean assigned bus inside daily and wash inside and outside monthly or sooner if appropriate

Discharge students only at authorized stops

Enforce rules governing student conduct on buses and utilize district’s formal discipline procedure when appropriate

Report any damage of vehicle to Director of Transportation

File accident report as necessary

Require students to walk in front of the bus and await driver signal before they cross the highway

Utilize safe driving practices in accordance with State law

Abide by district’s drug and alcohol testing policy

Assign students to bus seats when circumstances warrant

Assist the Director of Transportation in the planning of bus stops and schedule

Refer all requests from parents concerning transportation changes to the Director of Transportation

Assist in inter-school delivery of mail, and supplies

Ensure that the bus is empty and secured whenever the bus is unattended. Periodically check the bus for security purposes

Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned
