Principal of Small Elementary School - South Portland School Department

We are seeking a new leader to join our school district as an elementary principal. This role is at Small Elementary School which has just over 200 students in K-4 and is one of five elementary schools in the South Portland School Department. Small School also is home to our district K-4 social, emotional and behavioral special education programs.  In-depth knowledge of special education is required; and we have a preference for a candidate with proven leadership in this area.  

We are seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to strengthen family engagement, implement effective student support systems, and promote equity in education. In particular we are looking for a leader who is committed to the following:

• Family Engagement: Lead initiatives that build strong partnerships between families and the school community, recognizing their crucial role in student success.
• Student Support Systems: Champion and implement the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of all students.
• Equity and Inclusion: Drive efforts to eliminate disparities, ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
• Clear and consistent communication with staff and families
• Building a collaborative approach to problem solving and supporting student success.
