RECESS MONITOR - Albert S. Hall School
Anticipated Start Date: November 27, 2024
The Albert S. Hall School is a 4th and 5th grade intermediate school that prioritizes the academic and social growth experienced by students in this age group. While parent involvement continues to be important, the curriculum intends to foster more independence in students by encouraging their organizational, reasoning, and problem solving skills and providing opportunities to be involved in the school community through clubs and activities.
The Recess Monitor is responsible for monitoring and assisting students while at outdoor or indoor (weather dependent) recess ensuring safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Available 11 a.m.-1 p.m. during school days
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff
- Demonstrate fair, consistent, and sound judgment when coping with conflicting and/or unsafe situations
- Apply health and safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and community partners
- Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee outside and inside play and/or activities
- Interact respectfully with students and staff
- Monitor student behavior to ensure a safe play environment and fairplay of playground games
- Report incidents and accidents through established procedures
- Utilize restorative practices to promote positive student behaviors
- Other duties as reasonably assigned by the supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is governed by the terms set forth in the Board of Education of the City of Waterville and the Waterville Education Association Teacher Contract.
EVALUATION
The Recess Monitor reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.
