SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Instructional Specialist of Technology and STEM this position of Technology Coach promotes the use of technologies to support student achievement.  The Technology Coach must be proficient in using current technology resources in a K-12 educational environment. Teaching experience is required for this position. Knowledge of academic standards, assessment testing, technology devices, and web resources are necessary skills. The Technology Coach provides technology leadership, staff development, and instructional support to all K-12 instructional and administrative staff.  The Technology Coach is expected to work independently at the direction of the Instructional Specialist of Technology and STEM with a dotted-line responsibility to the building principals.

Salary Range: $41,286.41 - $77,875.35

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports the district-approved curriculum and the district-approved technology plan.
  • Works closely with classroom teachers in the development of lesson plans that encompass the use of technology.
  • Provides direct support to teachers through personal campus visitation, observation, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaborates with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional methods. Through coaching cycles, the Technology Coach and the teacher will work toward integrating the use of hardware, software and Internet resources in support of student learning and assisting teachers in meeting state and national standards for subject-area and technology-learning objectives.
  • Provides instruction and support to faculty members and administrators in the use of our Student Information System (SIS), our grading program, and both communication and data applications.
  • Collaborates with technology support staff to promote cybersecurity best practices and to stay current on the technical environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
  • Participates in cooperative short and long-range planning to make the most effective use of resources.        
  • Supports the administration in implementing all school/district technology policies and rules governing student and staff use of technology.
  • Recognizes the learning disabilities of students and when necessary trains them on how to use adaptive and assistive technologies, seeking the assistance of district special education specialists as needed.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.  Maintains coaching logs.
  • Teaches or reviews technology skills to a partial or whole class during a coaching cycle with a teacher or group of teachers.
  • Stays current with knowledge of software and educational trends in technology and technology integration.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None, other than contributing to the overall supervision of the students on school grounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education or a technology related area of study and/or demonstrates the skills of instructional technology competencies evidenced by effective classroom implementation.  Minimum of three years of verifiable teaching experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Teaching Certificate  
  • 680 endorsement preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS and ANALYTIC SKILLS

Ability to demonstrate basic numeracy skills and numerical problem solving. Ability to understand, create and analyze spreadsheets, charts and diagrams.  Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, statistical analysis, probability and logic as applied to the mathematical demands of the position. 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement technology lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.  Ability to demonstrate sustained effort and enthusiasm in the quality and quantity of work.
