Title: Long Term Substitute - Part-Time Administrative Assistant to the Director of School Nutrition
Reports to: Director of School Nutrition
Position Summary:
- Assists the Director of School Nutrition by performing administrative duties as assigned by the Director
- The Assistant will function as a liaison between the School Food Service Managers and the Director
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) or ability to attain
- Strong computer skills - G-Suite (mail, docs, sheets, forms), database software and internet proficiency
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside the organization
- Highest level of confidentiality is a must
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and special projects
- Self-directed, able to maintain productivity with minimal supervision
Skills/Abilities:
- Basic math, reading and communication skills
- Ability to work as a productive member of a team
- Ability to safely use all necessary kitchen equipment
- Ability to learn and follow all federal, state and local rules/regulations in relation to the School Nutrition Program
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist the School Nutrition team with all aspects of the program
- Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, and community
- Project a positive image of the RSU 57 School Nutrition Program at all times
- Manage and organize appointment calendar, schedule meetings and interviews
- Handle internal and external correspondence, including but not limited to phone, postal mail, and email
- Participate in workshops, food shows, trainings, and meetings
- Prepare meeting agendas and take meeting notes
- Maintain accurate information in the point of sale software
- Verify receipt of orders and process paperwork for proper payment
- Responsible for maintaining record keeping of program expenditures and revenues
- Create and maintain department’s filing systems
- Process free & reduced meal applications while maintaining a high level of confidentiality
- Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly, and yearly reports as directed
- Assist with weekly ordering of food and other supplies
- Provide assistance to the director for special projects within the program
- Maintain the School Nutrition Office in the absence of the Director
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director

Terms of Employment: Hourly, work year and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
