Position Title: Early Intervention Speech Language Pathologist
Location: Mitchell School
Reports To: Special Education Director, Building Principal

The Kittery School Department has adopted the evaluation, service delivery, and FAPE responsibilities for 3, 4, and 5 year olds and is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist who possesses experience working with, evaluating, and supporting the IEP team in decision making for students ages 3, 4, and 5 years of age. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a variety of teams and versatile in implementation of services. Applicants should have experience in diagnosing, assessing and treating speech, language and social communication disorders, as well as experience working closely with families and educators in a public school setting. Preferred candidates will have education and experience in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related information
- Meet regularly with special education team to share information and discuss student progress
- Attend IEP meetings and report out on student progress
- Assist in the screening of Pre-K and Kindergarten students registering in Kittery Schools
- Evaluate and observe students based on IEP team requirements and team decisions
- Perform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- Current License as Speech and Language Pathologist
- Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Strong understanding of special education state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of Special Education Part C and school based services
- Experience in implementing research based teaching methodology based upon diagnostic needs assessment
- Proven ability to create an engaging learning environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in educational technology tools and software.
- A passion for innovation and fostering creativity in learners.
- Experience working with diverse learners.
You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
