Description
As the Assistant Coach for Boys Lacrosse, you will deliver measurable results in developing, enhancing and promoting an athletic program that will be distinguished by the teams’ display of integrity, citizenship, character, work ethic, and their ability to overcome adversity. To instruct students in appropriate methods to be respectful of themselves, their opponents, and officials regardless of the outcome of their event.
 
 
Qualifications: Love what you do, bringing your experience as a player or as a coach to the students at RSU 21. Must have knowledge and expertise in the strategies, methods and techniques for a successful sport offering. Should have the ability to manage all aspects of a sport program and earned or will earn credentials of Maine Coaches; employment in the Kennebunk School Department preferred. 
 
 
Reports To: Director of Athletics 
 
 
Responsibilities:
Student Centered
  • Supervises the student athletes in his/her program
  • Through proper preparation and planning, students are appropriately ready for competition
  • Supervises/manages off season programs to help players enhance their abilities
  • Serves as a role model for students
  • Assists the Head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. 
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach. 
  • Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students. 
  • Assists with determining game strategy. 
  • Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition. 
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. 
  • Model’s sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. 
  • Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach. 
  • Assists the head coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season. 
  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, 
  • Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records. 
  • Models’ nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. 
Leadership
  • Works to enhance and display the philosophy and objectives of the department
  • Works with the trainer, Director of Athletics to ensure proper medical assistance is available and plans are in order for emergency situations
  • Administers the District athletic codes
  • Maintains orderly records of equipment/uniform issued and works with the athletic department to successfully collect all issued materials as directed by the Head Coach
  • Performs such other duties, consistent with this position, as determined by the principal/athletic director, Head Coach

Terms of Employment: As per contract. Salary to be established by the Board. 
 
 
Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building administrator or team leader, in accordance with the Board of School Directors Policy on evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
