 School Psychologist

Anticipated to begin 2025-2026 School Year

*1 Year position with potential for continuation*

Certifications

  • Valid Maine Department of Education Certification as a School Psychologist (093).
  • Valid CHRC
Performance Responsibilities
  • Administer and interpret tests of cognitive abilities, learning development, aptitudes, psychological interests, and personality characteristics for educational, vocational selection, guidance, or placement.
  • Completing approximately two evaluations per week is required. 
  • Interview and examine student developmental histories to assist in determining causes of behaviors or problems, maladjustments, conflicts, delayed development, learning disabilities, etc.
  • Attending initial referral IEP meetings to discuss referral questions for potential eligibility
  • Attendance at 504 meetings to discuss evaluations 
  • Process and communicate evaluation results and recommendations to parents at IEP Meetings.
  • Suggest changes or interventions in students' behavior, teachers, parents, administrators, etc.
  • Assist in developing prescriptive teaching and learning techniques relevant to specific areas of exceptionality.
  • Provide consultation to staff on students to assist in ongoing program development and MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support).
  • Consultation with school Social Workers and School Psychological Service Providers for ongoing professional development and supervision.
  • Complete risk assessments and provide recommendations for students referred through the risk assessment process.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Special Services Director 

Education

  • Complete a program approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) or the Maine Department of Education.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compenstation: to be negotiated based on experience
