School Bus Driver (Part-Time)
Job Summary:
The part time bus driver is responsible for the transportation of students enrolled at MeANS. This may be via the School Bus, 14 passenger bus, or 7 passenger van. This may include daily transportation to and from school for our day students and/or transportation of the on-campus students to and from drop-off points where their parents will pick them up. This position is typically Tuesday through Friday 6:00am -8:00am and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2:00pm - 4:00pm and Friday 12:15pm - 2:15pm. Position is approximately 20 hours a week, Tuesday through Friday. There is an opportunity to drive Mondays once a month if willing.
Duties and Responsibilities -
- Driving MeANS students to and from school.
- To make daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, to insure its safe operation. Report any defects immediately to supervisor.
- The driver will check for any damage and for belongings that may have been left behind after every run.
- Fill out daily pre-trip sheets and time sheets.
- Abide by all State of Maine and Federal motor vehicle laws and school board policies.
- Maintain control of passengers and ensure their safety.
- Drivers will attend scheduled workshops (safety, discipline, etc.).
- Drivers will report all student disciplinary matters to supervisor.
- Reports all incidents of work-related accident/illness within 24 hours; maintain a safe work environment; ensure that a safe environment is maintained in the workplace by adhering to all safety rules and requirements (Safety Policies) and report any safety hazards to immediate supervisor
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population
- All other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Clean driving record. Cooperative attitude: reliable and honest. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory reference, background, driving, and health checks. Must have a valid Maine driver’s license, a bus driver license preferable but not required.
Salary/Benefits:
Wages determined by the Board of Directors.
