Falmouth High School seeks a dynamic, creative, music teacher to join our team of passionate and professional educators. The successful candidate must be able to make strong, positive connections with highly engaged high-school-aged students and faculty, champion a high-performing music program, and be a life-long learner. This teacher will be an energetic and collaborative partner in a team of two full-time high school music teachers and also on a team of eight music teachers district-wide contributing to a strong K-12 music program.
The primary functions of the music and chorus teacher are to teach high school classes and to lead choral music performance groups. Music classes currently meet for 75 minutes every other day; chorus meets as a regular class as well. Students in band and chorus split each 75 minute block of their class between band and chorus.
The ideal candidate will feel comfortable:
- teaching music theory, piano lab, songwriting,
- leading large and small choral ensembles,
- incorporating technology into teaching and communication,
- preparing students for and attending music festivals, and
- collaborating with other music teachers.
Requirements:
- High school experience is preferred.
- Piano accompaniment skills are required and vocal jazz experience is a plus.
- A valid Maine Department of Education teaching certificate with a Music K-12 endorsement (614) is required.
