Position: Speech Language Pathologist

Primary Responsibilities:
This is a full-time, 198 day, Speech Language Pathologist position within the Statewide Education and Family Services team.
The Statewide Education and Family Services Department at MECDHH/GBSD is committed to providing direct Speech/Language services and support to school personnel regarding language, communication and literacy development, access to classroom communication and curriculum, the importance of self-advocacy skills and the social needs of students. Primary duties of this position will be with the South Site Based program. This position may support the Public School Outreach program as needed and as time allows.
The Speech/Language professional selected will:
- work collaboratively with the Statewide Education and Family Services Team (South Site Based Programs and Public School Outreach Programs) to:
- evaluate student’s speech and language skills
- develop and implement IEP goals
- provide team consultation
- provide direct speech services
- provide staff development
- provide family support and consultation
- provide school year and ESY services
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid Speech Pathologist license as issued by the Maine State Board of Examiners on Speech Pathology and Audiology
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of speech/language pathology including diagnostic, therapeutic, and evaluative strategies used with students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- ASL and Listening and Spoken Language skills, as well as, skills with a variety of hearing assistive technology and cochlear implants preferred
- Experience working with students who are deaf with additional disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of the IEP Process
- High level of professionalism, strong organizational, communication and written skills
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a helpful, positive and constructive way
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community
- Current CHRC Certificate (Fingerprinting) required
Work Environment
This job operates in a school and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee is frequently required to drive to schools and meetings.
