Job Opportunity: K-2 Teacher in a Small Island School

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our small island school community as a teacher for grades K-2. This unique opportunity allows you to teach a diverse group of young learners in a close-knit classroom setting. Our school is located on a small island off Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, offering an inspiring natural environment and a strong sense of community for educators who are excited about shaping young minds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in all core subject areas (math, literacy, science, and social studies).
  • Create a positive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners in a multi-age classroom setting.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and the local community to enhance the educational experience.
  • Organize and participate in school events, activities, and field trips that enrich student learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • Teaching certification: Endorsement 029 or 020.
  • Experience teaching in early elementary grades (K-2) and/or multi-grade classrooms is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational skills, and a passion for fostering young learners' growth.
