Reports to: Daily Operations and Grounds Manager
Under the supervision of the Daily Operations and Grounds Manager, the Maintenance & Transportation Technician will be responsible to perform tasks related to the upkeep and repair of the School's vehicle fleet, equipment, its buildings, and grounds.
This position requires a good working knowledge of vehicle fleet management and the ability to work with a diverse staff and student body. Strong interpersonal skills are important to be successful. Excellent communication skills are required as well as the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. At times, it may be necessary to work a flexible schedule to accommodate transportation needs. Maintain proper licensing to drive all school vehicles.
This position is also expected to support Kents Hill School’s mission to provide a safe, clean, and well maintained establishment and fleet, whereby faculty and students can engage in a productive learning environment.
requirements and responsibilities
- Completion of high school/GED and a minimum of 6 years experience in the Facilities/Maintenance field.
- Must possess a valid State of Maine drivers license and a safe driving record. CDL preferred.
- Must have experience with record keeping, registering, maintaining and repairing all types of vehicles and assessing safety of vehicles.
- Must have experience with installations of varying types of equipment, general maintenance and minor repairs to equipment relating to doors, windows and hardware, appliances, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.
- The position will also fulfill the requirement to actively participate in grounds work, event setups of the School's facilities and equipment, faculty moves, clean up and trash removal initiatives, etc.
- The Maintenance and Transportation Technician will also actively participate in the "On Call" rotation and will be expected to respond to a variety of property emergencies.
- The Maintenance and Transportation Technician will also actively participate as part of the Snow Removal Team in which duties will include a combination of plowing, sanding, shoveling, sweeping, scraping, and ice melt product applications.
- Ability to exert physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Duties may require evening and weekend work, as needed.
- Must conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.
