CHILD & ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM OUTREACH WORKER

Early Childhood Programs

Pay Range- $15.80 - $17.00


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Child and Adult Care Program Outreach Worker is responsible to the Nutrition Manager for the recruitment and provision of support to childcare providers participating in DCP's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Travels throughout the service areas as needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruits providers to participate in DCP's Child and Adult Care Food Program with the goal of increasing provider participation.
  2. Keeps abreast of available childcare subsidy programs and shares with parents DCP's childcare food program providers.
  3. Provides technical assistance to childcare providers in DCP's CACFP home childcare network. Plans time to ensure maximum number of visits within a given area to minimize time and travel expenses.
  4. Provides resources, including educational mini kits to DCP's network of childcare providers.
  5. Performs at least the minimum required home visits for CACFP program, monitoring food service delivery by providers to children and completes documentation in a timely manner.
  6. Plans and coordinates required annual CACFP training for all enrolled providers.
  7. Maintains CACFP files of necessary paperwork such as records of visits and children served. Enters menus, meal tallies, etc., for monthly reimbursement to providers into the billing software. Works closely with fiscal office to ensure all completed data is submitted within billing cycle.
  8. Attends state's annual training for CACFP. Keeps abreast of current issues regarding all aspects of CACFP and its impact on childcare providers.
  9. Works closely with the Fiscal Office in maintaining accountability for the CACFP program.
  10. Develops and maintains working relationship with the State CACFP contract officer.
  11. Assists with grant writing tasks upon request of supervisor.
  12. Responsible for remaining up-to-date and following agency's policies and procedures, including but not limited to reporting to DHHS for suspected Child Abuse and Neglect. Responsible to report suspicions of child abuse and neglect and other licensing infractions to supervisor.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of all agency information.
  14. Attends meetings and training as approved or requested by supervisor.
  15. Works towards realizing own performance goals and is open to own staff development.
  16. Works cooperatively with other agency staff, fostering an atmosphere of respect and teamwork.
  17. Maintains strict confidentiality in regard to children, families, and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  18. Must be flexible and able to work with and maintain positive relationships with multiple staff members.

Required Experience:

  • Previous experience working with the public, maintaining records and organizational skills preferred. Excellent communication skills-written and verbal required.
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education or child nutrition required. Knowledge of basic nutrition, preschool nutrition concepts and sanitation principles required.
