Job Title: After-School Professionals
Location: Crescent Park and Woodstock Elementary School
Position Type: Part-Time (5-25 hours per week)
Duration: August - June (with potential summer work available)
Overview:
Mahoosuc Kids Association seeks dedicated and energetic After-School Professionals for our after-school programs at Crescent Park and Woodstock Elementary Schools. The After-School Professional will assist in implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities that enrich the lives of the children we serve. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, fun, and supportive environment while complying with all DHHS licensing requirements.

Outdoor adventuring and healthy living are central to what we embrace at MKA. Whether it is cooking, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, snowshoeing, fort building, or Nordic skiing, the successful candidate will not only support these experiences but also share a passion for them.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Care
- Supervise and Lead Activities: Guide a group of elementary-aged children through diverse activities such as outdoor play, arts and crafts, STEM projects, and gym/outdoor games, ensuring all activities are age-appropriate and inclusive.
- Actively Engage: Participate in activities alongside children to foster excitement, learning, and positive experiences.
- Encourage Social Development: Facilitate opportunities for social interaction, teamwork, and the development of meaningful friendships.
- Foster Growth: Promote personal growth by nurturing children's confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills.
- Build Connections: Establish strong, trusting relationships with each child by checking in daily and showing genuine care and support.
- Provide Individualized Support: Assist children who require additional emotional, physical, behavioral, or social support with patience and understanding.
- Prioritize Safety and Fun: Maintain a safe, engaging, and positive environment at all times, balancing structure with enjoyable experiences.
Program Support and Implementation
- Activity Coordination: Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that align with the needs and interests of children.
- Maintain a Positive Environment: Ensure the program environment remains safe, enriching, and enjoyable for all participants.
Team Collaboration and Development
- Work as a Team: Foster a collaborative team culture by taking initiative, sharing ideas, and supporting coworkers.
- Embrace Feedback: Actively seek, accept, and provide constructive feedback to enhance program quality and personal performance.
- Engage in Team Building: Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.
- Ask for Support: Recognize when assistance is needed and reach out proactively to ensure program success.
Administrative Duties
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and timely records for incidents, injuries, and other required documentation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all DHHS licensing regulations and program policies.
Reporting
- Report directly to the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Preferred age of 18 years or older.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in childcare, education, or related settings.
- Background Check: Willingness to complete a DHHS background check.
- Certifications: Willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification if not already certified.
- Vaccination Documentation: Provide proof of required vaccinations (MMR and TDAP).
- Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions
- Flexible Hours: Work 5-25 hours per week, between 1:30 PM and 6:00 PM.
- Program Schedule: Follow the MSAD #44 district calendar; the program is closed on teacher workshop days, holidays, school vacations, and snow days.
- Summer Opportunities: Option for additional summer employment.
- Benefits: Eligible for benefits after 6 months if averaging over 20 hours per week, including holiday pay, mileage reimbursement, and generous paid time off.
