Washington Academy is seeking a highly motivated candidate for our position of Residential School Library Technician. This position begins at the start of 2025-2026 school year.
Under the supervision of and collaboration with administration, the Library Technician serves as the steward of the Larson Library at WA, ensuring it remains a hub for study, exploration, and support. They assist students and teachers in accessing library resources, including books, electronic databases, research materials, and instructional equipment. Responsibilities include managing circulation, maintaining records of loans and overdue items, discovering new digital resources, and overseeing school wide collections for use in curricular instruction. The technician also updates and catalogs materials, working closely with the Assistant Head of School to assess, acquire, and remove items based on usage trends and budget considerations. Additionally, they process, store, and repair books and media while maintaining an organized and engaging library environment through displays, exhibits, and bulletin boards.
This is a position for an individual who would like to live and work in a private secondary school setting with boarding and day students. Job duties during school days follow this position description while support and supervision of students happens in the afternoon and evening. While there is a rotation schedule of who is on duty, the Library Technician - Residential is living in community with students and fellow staff members in a dorm setting.
