This is a 40 hour per week, calendar year position at our State Office in Augusta. Hybrid remote schedule is possible, following a training period.
Salary: $69,805 - $102,794 per year

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees the fiscal operations of the organization, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager collaborates with stakeholders to address financial issues, improve systems, and support organizational goals. Additional responsibilities include budget preparation, audit coordination, and supervision of the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
· Plan and manage the daily activities of the fiscal department.
· Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
· Prepare monthly financial reports with analysis, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
· Maintain and enhance financial accounting systems and internal controls.
Budgeting and Financial Management
· Develop and oversee the annual and bi-annual budgeting process.
· Prepare and manage the organization’s budget and approve site-specific budgets.
· Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Audit and Compliance
· Coordinate annual financial and compliance audits, serving as the primary liaison with auditors.
· Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
· Conduct IDEA sub-recipient monitoring (GSST) and address findings as needed.
Team Leadership
· Supervise and mentor finance department staff, including conducting performance evaluations.
· Provide training and support to staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
· Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
· Work with regional sites and staff to resolve financial issues and streamline processes.
· Serve as a contributing member of the State Leadership Team, participating in strategic discussions and decisions.
Other Responsibilities
· Attend and contribute to meetings related to fiscal and agency matters.
· Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial processes and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
· At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a finance or accounting role.
· At least 3 years of experience managing an accounting office or department.
· Proficiency with computerized accounting systems (Great Plains experience preferred).
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting practices.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
