Middle School Social Studies Teacher

MSAD 41 is seeking a Middle School Social Studies Teacher. The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for inspiring students through engaging lessons in history, government, economics, geography, and/or current events. MSAD #41 is located in beautiful Piscataquis County and has a student population of approximately 600 students over three schools: Milo Elementary School (PK-2), Brownville Elementary School (3-4), and Penquis Valley Middle High School (5-12). This is a full-time position beginning the 2025-26 school year. 

Successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of the following:

• Develop and deliver standards-based social studies curriculum
• Create lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
• Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance instruction
• Assess student progress regularly and provide meaningful feedback
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful discussion and inquiry
• Participate in school-wide activities, professional development, and department meetings
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success

Qualifications: 

• Appropriate State of Maine Certification (020) General Elementary or (200) Social Studies 7-12 and current CHRC authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Classroom experience at the high school level preferred
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
