Job Description: Pond Cove is a large elementary school with 550+ students in grades K-4 and 90+ staff. We are a high performing school with expectations of excellence and rigor in all areas of an educator's professional practice. We are seeking a positive, hard-working, and effective educator with high standards for themselve and others. This is a permanent position that has opened up unexpectedly.

The successful candidate will join a team of five other first-grade teachers (total of six. This role includes planning, designing, and delivering engaging and hands-on lessons and implementing assessments to measure student growth and progress across all curriculum areas, including phonics, reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. Teaching first-grade at Pond Cove will require learning Heggerty's Bridge to Reading phonics program, Lucy Calkins Units of Study for reading and writing, and Everyday Math. This position includes covering student recesses and/or lunches and collaborating with a large number of colleagues including school social workers, school counselors, special educators, extended learning coaches, and building principals.

Certification Requirements: Maine Elementary Teaching Endorsement (020)

    • Response to Intervention (RTI)
  • Builds a community of learners who respect and care for each other
  • Meet student needs, including social-emotional, academic, and behavior
  • Share ownership of students for all aspects of learning and fulfill supervision duties (e.g., recess, lunch, etc.)
  • Be able to pivot quickly when changes happen (e.g., schedule changes, support and attend school assemblies and events, fulfill coverage needs, etc.)
