Ed Tech I, II or III - Special Ed

Patricia A. Duran School

  • Full-time, school-year position, 7 hours / day
  • $16.75 – $25.40 / hour (based upon years’ experience in public schools and authorization level) with sick leave and health insurance benefits
  • MDOE Criminal History Records Check and Educational Technician Authorization required

Qualifications: 

  1. Ed Tech Authorization from the Maine Dept of Education
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary for the job
  • Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the teacher or assist in drill or practice activities under the indirect supervision of a teacher
  • Perform non-instructional, non-evaluative functions
    • Help students master equipment/instructional materials assigned by the teacher
    • Provide input if requested to the IEP Team or Parent Teacher Conference
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
    • Copying, typing, filing, cutting, laminating, bulletin board preparation, etc.
  • Provide classroom management functions
    • Assist with playground/recess, time-out, lunch and bus duties as requested
    • Assist with supervision of students during emergency / fire drills, assemblies and field trips
    • Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary
  • Supervise small groups of students in community based programs
  • Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
  • Work cooperatively and positively with coworkers and supervisors
  • Arrive and depart punctually, attend regularly, notify appropriate personnel of absences and coverage
  • Participate in in-service training programs as assigned
  • Perform Personal Care duties (i.e. feeding, lifting, toileting, etc.) as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising special education teacher, principal, or Director of Special Services.
