Social Worker at Camp Alsing – Standish, ME (5-week position)
Camp Alsing is an overnight summer camp in Maine for young people, ages 10-22, who are looking for a traditional summer camp experience but need support with executive functioning, social communication, and anxiety management. We help campers expand their boundaries in a traditional camp environment.
At Alsing, we have a wonderful team and we work hard to help our campers have an amazing summer. We care about our staff and commit to providing them with solid training and the opportunity to have a transformative summer experience that will impact them both personally and professionally.

Position Summary
Camp Alsing’s two social workers are members of our clinical team and work closely with the camp director and other members of the leadership team to support campers and staff through the experience of living away from home, meeting new people, and trying new things in a group setting. We have a collaborative, supportive team atmosphere and use humor and positive-thinking to help our staff and campers have a great summer.
Required: MSW (required) LCSW or similar certification (preferred), experience working with children with Autism/ADHD and/or other learning and processing challenges.
Essential functions:
- Support campers in their transition into camp environment
- Act as “on call” throughout the day for any issues that arise with campers or staff
- Proactively identify potential issues or conflicts that arise with campers or staff
- Work with campers and staff to proactively incorporate skills and strategies to alleviate anxiety and contribute to positive camp environment.
- “On call” overnight as needed (alternating with other staff, on call in all/any emergencies).
- Additional duties as needed.
Required: MSW/LCSW, Experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, and anxiety.
Dates and other information: June 20 – July 30, 2023. Some online training required prior to camp. Food & lodging provided. PTO. Detailed training provided.
