MSAD #31 is a unique rural district that serves the towns of Edinburg, Enfield, Howland, Maxfield, and Passadumkeag. The distinctiveness of the district is characterized by the community spirit and support for our schools and the commitment to providing a quality education for all students that has been sustained over decades.

Approximately 450 students are enrolled in MSAD 31, which consists of three schools: Enfield Station School (PK-5), Hichborn Middle School (6-8) and Penobscot Valley High School (9-12). The district is located approximately 35 miles north of Bangor and the Central Office and Middle/High School complex are less than two miles from Exit 217 of Interstate 95. This is a full-time position beginning July 1, 2025.

A successful candidate will possess:

• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, with a talent for cultivating strong, collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.

• Proven expertise in effectively managing budgets and allocating resources to support district goals.

• Comprehensive understanding of educational policies, state standards, and K-12 best practices.

• A demonstrated history of enhancing student performance and creating a positive, inclusive school environment.

Qualification requirements: 

• Superintendent Certification (010) or eligibility for Certification 010.

• Master’s degree in educational leadership or education preferred.

• Experience as a principal, assistant superintendent, or other leadership role within education is a must.
