Penquis Valley Schools is seeking to add a Physical Education/Health Teacher to our team of educators.  We are profoundly and uniquely focused on the needs of our students and communities in Milo, Brownville, and Lagrange, Maine. We are a dynamic team of educators who are committed to positively impacting the learning lives of all our students. The Physical Education/Health Teacher is a full-time position that involves inspiring our middle and high school students to prioritize physical fitness, develop healthy habits, and cultivate emotional well-being.

A successful candidate will:

• Develop and implement engaging, standards-based Physical Education (PE) and Health curricula for students in grades 5-12.
• Promote physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship through creative and inclusive activities.
• Educate students on topics such as nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and personal safety.
• Evaluate student progress through assessments, skill demonstrations, and participation.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and research in physical education and health education.
  

Qualification requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education and Health (or ability to obtain).
• Strong knowledge of fitness, sports, and health education standards.
• Experience teaching or coaching middle and/or high school students is preferred.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for promoting wellness and fostering a love for physical activity in young people.
