Position Summary: Elementary School Counselor, full time, beginning January 21, 2025.
The Richmond School Department is seeking an excellent school counselor to serve the students of our PK-5 elementary school. Marcia Buker is a small school of approximately 200 students, staffed by a highly dedicated and collaborative team of educators and support staff.
Qualifications:
State of Maine Maine Certification 075; conditional certification will be considered CHRC authorization required
Goals of the School Counseling Program
- To design and implement an exceptional school counseling program that provides a balance of direct instruction of curricula, individual and group sessions, and crisis response as needed.
- To teach students the skills and processes necessary for social and emotional health and well-being
- To foster enduring, trusting relationships with families and students by providing support to families, reducing barriers and facilitating access to learning and basic needs.
- To further the development and implementation of our MTSS System
- To assist in reducing truancy and chronic absenteeism among students
- To provide all students who have or are in need of a 504 plan with timely and appropriate accommodations
Performance responsibilities
- Provide a dynamic, engaging program of Tier I SEL instruction within classroom and small group contexts.
- Providing crisis response and intervention for students when needed 3. Consult in a positive and collaborative manner with families, faculty, administrators, and other professionals regarding students
- Analyze student data to Identify and support school-wide needs related to social-emotional learning
- Implement/facilitate researched informed interventions in large group, small group, and individual settings
- Attend MTSS meetings and identify level of support needed for students
- Identify and develop accommodations and resources for students and teachers and assist in drafting and implementing individual behavior plans
- Prepare and follow up on referrals to outside agencies
- Engage in restorative work with students, teachers, and classrooms 10. Develop and facilitate professional development for staff as needed
- Serve as Attendance Coordinator for MBES
- Work with families of students at risk of truancy and chronic absenteeism in a supportive and collaborative manner to improve attendance
- Serve as 504 Plan Case Manager for MBES
Salary: Based on experience per the RSD Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement
