Perform various floor care duties such as cleaning, scrubbing, waxing, moving
furniture and other similar duties to maintain assigned floor areas in all
buildings(Cheverus Hall, Loyola Hall, exterior concession and bathroom buildings) a
clean and habitable condition following established practices and procedures.
♦ Work from written or verbal orders and instructions, pre-established work
patterns and assignments. Use vacuum cleaners, electric buffers, floor scrubbers,
mops, buckets and other similar items.
♦ Cleaning duties consist of,but are not limited to vacuum and clean rugs; for floors
and stairs: wax, bond, chairs, furnishings, fixtures, doors, trim and other related items.
♦ Must be able to frequently lift up 60 pounds and move furniture, equipment, and
items such as desks, computers, file cabinets and similar items using hand truck, dolly,
etc., within assigned areas as directed. May occasionally be required to lift over 75
pounds with assistance.
♦ Use master keys to lock and unlock doors to classrooms, offices, and other areas
following preset schedule or as required. Pick up and return key sets following
established practices. Report lost or missing keys to director immediately.
♦ Occasional overtime will be required for emergencies, special events and/or to
complete necessary work. Adjust work schedule to include coming in at some time
during all holidays and weekends.
♦ Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment and materials as well as
unusual situations to supervisor. Observe and obey all safety rules, practices and
procedures. Post signs in work areas as required. Maintain work and supply area in a
neat and orderly manner. Requisition needed supplies following established procedures.
♦ Requires periodic kneeling and crouching; occasional bending and twisting; and
the ability to climb 6’ foot ladder. Set-up for special events as requested by director.
♦ Perform similar and related duties as requested and required.
