Special Education/Multilingual Secretary
RSU 1 is seeking a highly organized and professional Secretary to support the Special Education and Multilingual (ML) Departments, located at the RSU 1 Central Office, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will manage IEP meeting scheduling for students, ensure district compliance with special education timelines and paperwork, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education. This position will also assist the ML Department with scheduling, correspondence, translation requests, and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. This is a 40 hour per week position and a 220 day per year contract. This position falls under full social security in RSU 1 and is not eligible for Maine Public Employees’ Retirement System. Salary will be based upon experience.
Qualifications:
- Must possess proficient technology skills. Familiarity with the following is preferred: Google Suite, Infinite Campus, Acuity, Reach My Teach
- Be extremely detail-oriented
- Be a positive, proactive, and independent problem solver
- Have excellent time management and task-prioritizing skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and also independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond in a courteous manner
- Effectively manage numerous and diverse tasks with confidentiality and competence
- Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while effectively balancing competing priorities
- Have an understanding of confidentiality requirements and professional ethics
- Knowledge of special education laws, timelines and paperwork requirements preferred
Certification:
- Current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
