Director of Curriculum and Learning

RSU 29, 2025-2026 School Year

Qualifications:Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field. Valid Maine administrator certification. 3-5 years of experience as a school administrator, curriculum director. Prefer Maine Certification for Curriculum Coordinator (078) or Assistant Superintendent (015) certification 

Experiences:  Experience in coordination of student services, personnel management,  preparation of state and federal reports, and implementation of state and federal laws. Works with various stakeholders including the School Board, students, parents, teachers, administrators and the public. Demonstrates knowledge of current research, theory, and pedagogy as it relates to public education in the 21st Century

Job Goal: Assist the superintendent in providing leadership in the district's PK-12 and community education instructional programs, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development

Essential Functions: 

  • Coordinate district curriculum framework, assessments, and support district efforts to provide research-based, data-driven program, along with general education interventions 
  • Coordinate and monitor district professional development, including district Educator Effectiveness plans 
  • Develop and manage district Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Consolidated  Plan, including reporting the effectiveness of the plan 
  • Write and monitor all federal title applications 
  • Prepare and oversee district Gifted & Talented plan, as well as supervise and evaluate district Gifted & Talented teaching staff 
  • Prepare and oversee district Lau Plan and serve as ESOL Coordinator 
  • Manages the budget process for staff development, curriculum assessment and instructional materials, supplies and equipment
  • Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training and assigning of instructional personnel
  • Oversee certification and credentialing of school employees
  • Coordinate training and implementation of district Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guideline (CSTAG) teams
  • Serve on 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program Advisory Board
  • Serve as acting Superintendent in his/her absence
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent
