EDUCATIONAL TECHNICIAN I, II or III - PRE-KINDERGARTEN - KES

 

As an Educational Technician III, you will deliver measurable results in enhancing the learning environment for students by supporting classroom teachers in achieving the goals and objectives of the school program. 
 

Qualifications: Love what you do, working in an environment supporting teachers who are supporting students to achieve their learning goals. Must meet Maine Educational Technician III requirements and the course work in education or a related field is preferred.  

 

Reports to: 

  • Building Principal 
  • Grade Level Team Leaders 
  • Classroom teachers 

 

Responsibilities:   

 

Leadership 

  • Flexibility, creative problem solver.

  • Assist in the preparation of and implementation of school wide activities. 
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information. 
  • Participate in in-service training provided through the district to improve knowledge and skills needed to perform job responsibilities. 
  • Participate in staff meetings as needed.  

 

Team Member 

  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Assist with building duties and routine tasks as assigned by the principal and supervising teachers (i.e. recess, lunch, bus duty, etc.). 
  • Prepare and organize materials for instruction in collaboration with teachers and supervisors. 
  • Assist teachers in ensuring that students’ personal, safety and well being needs are met. 
  • Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. 
  • Carry out behavioral programs and expectations for students in the absence of the teacher (recess, lunch, small group work, etc.). 
  • Assists principal and office staff with clerical tasks. 

 

Student Centered 

  • Understanding and/or willingness to learn about students with special needs. 
  • Sensitivity to students, parents, team and building needs. 
  • Work one to one and small groups of students to implement curriculum, instruction and assessments. 
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, etc. 
  • Assist students with lunch, snack, and clean up routines. 
  • Alert teachers to any problems or special information about an individual student.
