Special Education Teacher

ACADIA Academy is seeking candidates for a Special Education Teacher. Candidates must have:
Maine State certification as Teacher of Exceptional Students (282).
Experience working with children who present emotional, learning and behavioral
problems, should be an effective team leader who is experienced in designing individualized,
academic, and behavioral programs for students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in:

Behavior intervention and management skills
Consulting with school BCBA and related service providers
Successful instructional strategies
Supervision of support staff
IEP development
Implementing appropriate modifications and accommodations
Collecting academic and behavioral data
Special education law and processes
Collaborating with the general education team
Maintaining special education records and data
Performing classroom observations
Facilitating transitions of students placed out of district
