This position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, year-round. It is benefits eligible.
Pay starts at $17.51 per hour and currently there is a monthly bonus paid out through the Early Childhood Workforce Wage Supplement Program. This is a tiered system and administered by the State of Maine.

General Position Description: The Float Teacher is responsible for all aspects of running a classroom in the absence of the head teacher and assistant teacher. The Float Teacher works closely with all age groups (ages 18 mo. through Age 5) and assists with various tasks throughout the building.
Educational Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED.
· Minimum of one (1) year experience as a teacher’s assistant or paraprofessional preferred.
· Course work in early childhood education preferred.
Additional knowledge skills, and experience required:
· Knowledge of child development, positive guidance, and developmentally appropriate practice.
· Passion for the field of Early Childhood Education.
· Strong written/verbal communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to work independently but also as a team player.
· Ability to think quickly, clearly, and remain calm during stressful times.
· Ability to maintain a professional attitude and work ethic at all times.
· Ability to maintain confidential information.
· Must be dependable and adaptable.
· Fingerprint Based Background Check as required by the Dept. of Health and Human Services and Childcare Licensing.
· Member of the Maine Roads to Quality Registry.
· Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR certified or willingness to obtain.
· Completion of required Health and Safety Training through Maine Roads to Quality
· Completion of Maine Mandated Reporter Training or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements:
· Sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, walking, grasping, stretching, repetitive motions.
· Ability to sit on the floor and get up from a seated position.
· Ability to act quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
· Ability to navigate different terrains outside in our play areas and actively move around the areas to supervise and the ability to be outside in temperatures of 15 degrees or above factoring in wind chill.
· Visual acuity to include color, depth perception, and field of vision.
· Sufficient auditory function to hear phones, pages, instruments or system alarms, and verbal commands.
· Light lifting (up to 50 lbs. occasionally or up to 10 lbs. frequently.
· May be subjected to sitting or standing for long periods of time.
· Must be able to climb stairs on order to access classrooms and other rooms in the building.
· Must be able to communicate verbally with others, including phone and radio equipment.
