Position Overview

With a start date of August 15, 2025, Kents Hill’s new Technology and Engineering (T&E) teacher will endeavor to develop not only a variety of skill sets to handle designing, building, and programming solutions to problems, but the curiosity and determination to see those solutions through to the end, and the ability to be reflective about the impact those solutions have, all  while advancing the Kents Hill curriculum and their own teaching practices. 

The ideal candidate will be:

  • able to bring effective and modern teaching of at least one of the major threads of the department– design, build, code. 
  • comfortable working in a project-based environment and developing interesting, place-based, authentic, and responsive projects for students to work on
  • committed to developing in all Kents Hill students the kinds of sophisticated problem-solving and critical-thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education
  • authentically engage learners in problems that extend beyond the walls of the classroom
  • culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • An educator passionate about the pursuit of their own personal growth through professional development
  • Committed to the boarding school student experience and excited to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes: 
    • Living in a campus residence and participating in all aspects of residential life
    • Advising a group of students
    • Involvement in afternoon and extracurricular activities

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • some combination of:
    • experience teaching with vector and raster design programs
    • experience working in a maker-space
    • coaching a robotics team
    • proficiency in multiple programming languages
    • experience with physical computing
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
