Title: Band Teacher
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in specific area of teaching
2. Holds appropriate Maine Department of Education Certification
3. Specific preparation to teach at the appropriate level
Reports to: Building administration (Principal and/or Assistant Principal)
Job Goal: To deliver appropriate instruction and services to students and ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills, and habits of work to become successful individuals and citizens
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students in a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students
2. Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons and projects
3. Creates a classroom environment that encourages student participation and is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
4. Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives
5. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides feedback as required 6. Assesses the learning difficulties of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required
7. Strives to improve professionally as an educator
8. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
9. Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and is an active participant in all Professional Learning Communities
10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, funds, and facilities
11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
12. Organizes classes and work so that substitute teachers can function with the minimum loss of learning for students
13. Uses community resources when available
14. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms 15. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, climb stairs, lift (ranging from 25-75 lbs depending on student size), bend, pull, push, walk, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks that may be required from time to time.
Terms of Employment: Salary, work year and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
