Position Title: Bus Monitor
Location: Central Office, Kittery School District
Reports To: Director of Special Services
Position Start Date: As soon as a suitable candidate is found

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a qualified bus monitor. The individual will be accompanying a student with special needs being transported by van to a special purpose private school. The van runs from Kittery to the Sanford area on mornings and afternoons on days school is in session, which includes February vacation (Feb. 17-Feb. 21) and school days during the summer months. Position is year-round and approximately 4 hours per day (approx. 7am-9am and 1pm-3pm).
The ideal candidate for this position will
- Maintain confidentiality of all student, family and employee related information
- Assist with loading/unloading student and supports (ie. gait trainer) as needed
- Review and reinforce appropriate behaviors on the bus
- Assist with managing student behaviors and individual needs on the bus as they arise
- Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families
- Participate and successfully complete required training, as directed by the supervisor
- Communicate any concerns immediately to the Special Education Director
- Perform any other appropriate duties the Special Education Director/Supervisor deems
necessary
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check
You must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
