JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Transportation Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent. Will hold current State of Maine licensing as a school bus driver. The Supervisor will need the ability to give direction and lead the transportation group, and work well with district employees, and the general public. May be required to work overtime and is subject to call back after normal working hours and on weekends for emergencies. Must be willing to comply with all applicable laws, rules, policies and regulations.
REPORTS TO: Operations Director
JOB GOALS: To assist the Operation Director in the needs of the Transportation department. Supervises transportation employees and supports their training, and safety needs, including the bus garage. To assist in conducting safe, efficient, and cost effective operations of the transportation department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Valid Maine drivers license with Class B with S and P endorsement
Ability to read, reason and understand policies, procedures, and related information and to follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
Physical ability to perform all necessary upper and lower body movements.
Ability to talk, hear, see, smell, speak, correctly perceive.
Ability to do simple calculations, divide, multiply, addition, counting and subtraction.
Ability to use any and all tools and equipment related to the repair and maintenance of the district's fleet of vehicles and buses.
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and to climb heights up to 15 feet.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Acts as assistant to the Operation Director, and fills in for him/her whenever necessary.
Maintains all Bus and Van routes, helps drive bus when necessary
Helps with Trips and Assignments
Establishes and maintains group cohesiveness
Makes recommendations as to purchases of buses and equipment.
Assists in maintaining appropriate maintenance records.
Assists in Transportation driver training.
Assists in maintaining good relations with other employees and the general public.
Oversees the operations on the bus garage.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Operation Director or Superintendent of Schools.
