The College of Education and Human Development invites applications for the position of Field Experiences Coordinator. The Field Experience Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and overseeing all aspects of student field experiences, including placements, curriculum implementation, accreditation preparation, and mentorship, in alignment with the goals of the University of Maine and accreditation requirements.
*FIELD EXPERIENCES: *
- Works under the supervision of the Executive Director of Educator Preparation and collaborates with Accreditation Data Specialist to identify and place student teachers in early field experiences, practicum experiences, and student teaching experiences.
- Establishes strong relationships with teacher education faculty, program supervisors, mentor teachers, and other school-based personnel to ensure diverse and effective field-based experiences.
- Provides field experience-related advising and mentorship to students, faculty, and staff.
- Makes recommendations to the Executive Director of Educator Preparation regarding the quality of field experience sites.
- Teaches trainings and/or courses that support the professional growth of teacher candidates and conducts field visits to supervise the implementation of these trainings.

*ACCREDITATION AND COMPLIANCE: *
- Attends program-, school-, and college-level meetings related to educator preparation and/or accreditation.
- Participates in all aspects of preparation for CAEP continuing accreditation and state review visits.
- Ensures forms and student assessments, as required by state and national accreditation agencies, are completed on a regular and timely basis.
- Participates in the analysis and interpretation of data regarding placements and practitioners, preparing reports for accreditation, state, and federal requirements.
- Manages the implementation of faculty-designed curricula for field experience courses.
- Follows established procedures to document, track and monitor student field experiences.
CONTINUOUS PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT
- Recommends procedural and policy changes for continuous improvement and to accomplish objectives and goals related to field placements.
- Creates and revises handbooks related to dispositions, early field experiences, and other field experience-related topics.
Other duties as reasonably assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- Teaching experience in PK-12 settings.
- Ability to travel in state, region, and nationally for recruitment purposes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer fluency required.
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a mentor teacher and/or supervising teacher.
*Work Schedule: *Normal University of Maine business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Due to the nature of the position, work beyond regular hours (to include evenings and weekends) may at times be necessary to meet the requirements of the position. The employee shall establish regular office hours and in consultation with the supervisor, adjust the work schedule as appropriate.
*Work Year: * Full-time, 11-month work year with one month off between June 1 and September 1.
