Job Opportunity: 6th-8th Grade Teacher in a Small Island School

We are seeking a dedicated and versatile educator to join our small island school community as a teacher for grades 6-8. This unique opportunity involves teaching all core content areas to a small, close-knit group of approximately 10 students. Nestled on a small island off Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park, our school offers a stunning natural setting and a tight-knit community for those who are passionate about education and the outdoors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in all core subject areas (math, science, language arts, and social studies).
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners in a multi-grade classroom setting.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to enhance the educational experience.
  • Organize and participate in school events, activities, and field trips that enrich student learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education. 
  • Teaching certification: K-8 Endorsement is best fit for position (020)
  • Experience teaching middle school students and/or multi-grade classrooms is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
