Position:  Director of Safety and Technology

Location:  Kittery School District

Start Date: 7/1/25  Part-time, Three Days per Week Year-round

The Kittery School District seeks a highly skilled and dynamic Director of Technology & Safety to oversee all facets of technology and school safety across the district. This part-time role (equivalent to three days per week) integrates two critical disciplines—technology and safety—given the increasing reliance on technology for school security.

About the District

The Kittery School District is a leader in technology-enhanced education, with a full 1:1 iPad deployment, cutting-edge classroom technology, and a concierge-level approach to supporting staff in maximizing technology’s role in teaching and learning. The district includes three schools and a central office located within the municipal center, all of which rely on robust and secure technology systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Oversight:

• Lead and manage all district-wide technology initiatives, infrastructure, and support services.
• Maintain network administration redundancies to ensure seamless and secure operations.
• Oversee the district’s data platforms (JumpRope, Infinite Campus, NEO, Civil Rights Data Collection, etc.) and work closely with the District’s Data Manager to develop a deep understanding of all data management platforms. 
• Provide strategic leadership in leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Manage and maintain the District’s technology assets.
• Manage the District’s technology budget with the support of the Finance Manager. 

Safety Oversight:

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety protocols, including compliance and training.
• Respond to safety-related incidents with the superintendent and other District leaders.
• Oversee cybersecurity initiatives to protect sensitive data and district operations.
• Manage cloud-based video surveillance and other security technologies.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and district leadership to ensure best practices in school safety.

Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate:

• A strong background in network administration, cybersecurity, and IT systems management.
• Experience with educational technology integration and data management.
• A deep understanding of school safety protocols, compliance, and emergency preparedness.
• Leadership in cross-functional collaboration between technology and safety teams.
