High School Threshold Teacher -2025-2026

Job Summary:  


The High School Threshold Teacher is an experienced and innovative teacher who enjoys working with non-traditional learners one-on-one in a hands-on, project based, highly individualized learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Travel to face-to-face instructional sessions with each student on a weekly basis.  

? Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population. 

? Maintain daily contact with each student on school days, including phone calls, texts, or emails to answer questions, confirm attendance, and productivity, and video chat as needed.

? Individualize curriculum across content areas to meet the needs and interests of our non-traditional Threshold students. This may include agricultural, environmental and forestry units through place-based projects.

? Participate in planning and team teaching thematic hands-on monthly on-campus learning days. 

? Identify, plan for, and work with students who have a wide range of academic needs. 

? Support students with college and career planning

? Employ restorative practices as needed to work with student behavior, engagement, and attendance. 

? Contact parents/guardians on a regular basis to keep them updated on student progress in the program. 

? Provide quarterly progress reports for advisees. 

? Build relationships with students and families and help connect them with resources to overcome challenges in life and education.

  

Qualifications:  

 

  • Experience working with adolescents who face barriers to completing their high school education.

 

  • Certification, or eligibility for conditional certification, in one core High School area 

 

  • (Math, English, Social Studies, Science, Special Ed).  

 

  • Satisfactory reference, background and health checks  

 

  • Must have a valid Maine driver’s license and a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement offered).
